Retiring “Megalink”

Wayne Technical Fanatics is retiring the moniker “Megalink” from the WW8TF ecosystem.

A number of years ago, we acquired the domain name megalink.network because “Megalink” was a cool-sounding name and was a fun label for interests of some of the members at the time. Namely, that interest was multi-protocol linking to bridge D-STAR, YSF, DMR, and even analog together. We never quite made it there, unfortunately. With the waning of interest in voice digital modes (including amongst the membership), much of the infrastructure has been unmaintained through disinterest. The final nail in the coffin has been the ridiculous price increase of the megalink.network domain renewal of $47 + tax. Thus the name, domain, and branding of Megalink is being retired.

Things completely being retired:

  • The Megalink name
  • Anything megalink.network in the name

Things being partly retired or renamed based on personal interest:

  • XLX330 / YSF83603 is now xlx.devrandom.org and ysf.devrandom.org respectively
